Aaron Borg kicks off 2009 with top results

Aaron Borg has had a very positive start to his 2009 season. Starting at the Brian
Farley Memorial Event held at Eastern Creek Raceway on January 31st to February
1st, Aaron came back from a poor qualifying result (10th) and worked his way
through the field with some solid heat results. He then went on to dominate the
pre-final, winning by a massive 3.464 seconds and backed that up with a win in the
main Final after another great drive.

After his win at the Brian Farley Memorial, Aaron went into the first round of the
NSW Premier State Cup confident of a solid result. The day started off reasonably
well, qualifying in 5th position, just 0.259 seconds off pole. After some solid heat
finishes in 7th, 4th and 4th, Aaron would line up on grid position 4 for the Pre-Final.

After a great start, Aaron moved straight into 2nd position and two laps later made
his way into the lead. With a lead group of 5, positions were changing almost every
lap but Aaron managed to stay in the lead for the majority of the race. Unfortunately,
with 2 laps remaining, the second and third placed drivers got a run on Aaron and
slipstreamed past him down the main straight. This dropped Borg back to 3rd which
is where he stayed for the remainder of the race.

From position 3 in the final, Aaron fell back to 4th at the start and was stuck behind
Corey Lean for 2 laps. Finally, Aaron made a move and immediately began pulling a
gap on the competitors behind him. Unfortunately, those two laps proved costly and
the 2 leaders had already made a gap over him. Pushing all the way, Aaron was
putting in some very consistent lap times, all within 0.1 of his best, but as the top 3
were matching each others times, the gap stayed the same for the remainder of the
race and Aaron crossed the line in a comfortable 3rd.

"I didn't make the best of starts and this cost me in the end. As soon as I got
passed Corey, I just put my head down and pushed the kart to its limit every single
lap and although I am very happy with how consistent I drove it just wasn't quite
enough in the end. To finish on the podium again is still a very good result and a
great way to start the series as we will go home with some solid points in the bag. I
would like to thank my dad, my cousin and uncle, Troy Farley, Hurst Race Engines,
Kart One Racing and Charisma Signs for their continued support."
